Mac Daddy.

I haven't been grocery shopping in a while, so the pantry is getting a bit spare. Still, the Lads and I need to eat. Hmmm. What's easy and filling? Boxed macaroni and cheese, anyone?
Shelf life? Half life? Uh, no. Anything older than the Athens Olympics probably needs to go. Guess it's canned green beans and grilled cheese sandwiches. Again.

Ah, Chase, you gotta understand. It's for the Lads. Ida et it. Honest Injun. I remember their older brother bearing the brunt of my bachelor stubborness. I remember their mom used to make salmon croquets. I had flour. I had salmon. Sure they were both expired. Badly (I think they had moving stickers from three different states). I wasn't going to let a little thing like that keep us from eating the stuff. They were genuinely awful. Poor oldest took a bite and chewed for as long as he could bear to, then he looked up apologetically and quietly asked, "Dad, we don't really have to eat this, do we?". I'll still cook/eat outdated stuff, but four years outdated is a bit much.

A can of peas, a can of tuna and some all American mac & cheese (in a box) and you got yourself a meal.

That's the only recipe I know. Seriously.

Tuna, Hurrah! is what you call it.

(and yeah, you need the comma and the exclamation point for flavah)

Love the name. I'll let you know about the meal.

That reminds me of "The Road." Which, btw, I finished in like 6 hours. It was AWESOME!

You need a fun class on yummy vegan and vegetarian cooking the next time you're in town. (Nutrition S'Mart - the best!) That Mac 'n Cheese nonsense is bad enough *before* it expires.

Eating outdated food is almost as depressing as "The Road."

The Road, Star? My former Priest, Les McAbee (well, I think he's still a priest; he's just not MY priest) used to talk about his journeying. Is that his book? The Road Les Traveled?

Kate, I know you're right about the vegetarian stuff, but vegetables go bad way before fat does. You ever try freezing lettuce?
