Beautiful Beaufort By the Sea.

My Babymamma lives in Beaufort. Beaufort is the "big city" in five counties which make up the Fourteenth Circuit, and now homebase for the new "Circuit Public Defender". Instead of coming from the Boro, my paychecks will begin coming from Beaufort. Instead of walking two buildings over to discuss Human Resources issues, I've got to drive almost an hour now. Still, I like Beaufort, and it's an excuse to visit with my daughter. And the last bit of the drive really is pretty.

And the Marines Base and the Putt Putt place, I mean while you're at it.

They got THREE marine bases in Beaufort: the Air Station; Paris Island Recruit Depot; and Laurel Bay (not sure what they do there). The Putt-putt place, is a go. Caroline used to date the owner's son.

The Big Chill is my favorite movie. I don't watch movies much..but if I am flipping channels and I happen to catch it..I will watch it..all over again.
A pic of that house would be great Dave. Thanks for asking Chase. I didn't realize that was the same place it was filmed.

Yeah, Tam, they've actually filmed several movies in this area: Radio was filmed in the Boro, Something to Talk About was filmed in Jasper County, some of Forrest Gump was filmed in Hampton, Prince of Tides was filmed in Beaufort.

Don't forget the Penn Center, a National Historic site, for us educator folk. Could be a whole history lesson in that one.

And before you take a right at that corner, stop by Red Piano II, one of my favorite art galleries.

Good catch, Amy. Penn Center was a center for the education of freed slaves- even before required by Reconstruction. The Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was reportedly a visitor at Penn Center once.

I've never been to the Red Piano II, but there used to be a really good biscuit place there years ago, called Cluckers. Alas, the joint is gone, and there isn't another Cluckers.
