I think Barack should have been harder on McCain. Especially when the subject of Russia came up. Barack failed to mention McCain's top foreign policy adviser Randy Scheunemann, signed a $200,000 contract to continue providing strategic advice to the Georgian government in Washington. I would have certainly brought that up.
Also, 83 Wall St. Lobbyest's work on his campaign. I would have certainly brought that up also. A total of 177 lobbyests in all. While Obama's campaign has only 3 lobbyests. (I am not sure if there are more, I could be wrong and if anyone has better or accurate info, please come forward.) But it's not 177. Overall, I don't think either of them did horribly. John told some lies. Barack called him on every one of them and John had no response, because he knows he was lying. I do think Barack presented himself as a man who thinks before acting. Who is willing to try to speak with foreign leaders and try to work out aggreements before bombing their countries. Of course overall I think Barack presented himself as the more qualified leader.
Good observations, Tam. McCain did better than I'd expected, and Obama a little worse. Both looked competent; neither spectacular. McCain looked more immediately capable in foreign affairs; however, capable isn't a huge plus if the direction he's heading isn't where you want to go. I can hit a golf ball a really long way, but it's generally into the woods. My strength in that instance looks more like a weakness. McCain convinced me he'd've done a better job than Bush did of handling Iraq; however, he also convinced me he'd've made the same decision that Bush made to go into Iraq in the first place. Competently handling a war that we had no business in in the first place doesn't make me feel warm and fuzzy.
Let's see, I watched none of it. I had a CC meet, then I was really tired, grabbed a beer and watched a little porn. Really, not a bad night. I did listen to some sound-bites on the radio this morning.
... The parts I watched, before heading down the street to see George Inai at the Lion's Lair and drink PBR on draft, I saw Bdawg looking sharp and in control, and McSame looking old and worn out and baffled by the "tv recordification device"
Hope and Change. No idea what it means, don't care, I'll settle for different.
Porn's not a bad choice, all in all, Ange. In my most partisan days, I always said Democrats like to screw, but it's one citizen at a time. Republicans screw entire demograpics at once.
And, Chase, while I personally gave a slight edge to the old dude in the first debate, I didn't see anything to alter my plans to vote for the skinny dude with the funny name.
I agree with jrtnutt. Obama kept his cool to make a point that he'll deliver different ways of dealing with problems, in this case: a lying SOB. McCain couldn't even make eye contact with Obama...anyone else notice that? Apparently liars will explode if they look people in the eye.
Glad you liked the film, John. I figured you might. I had to actually upload it to YouTube to post it, for some reason. It's only my second attempt to post a video.
Star, I used to get mad at politicians for lying, but I mostly don't anymore. That's what they do. You only hope that people can figure it out.
I was born in Montana, raised in Tampa, and reside in a small town in the lowcountry of South Carolina with the Lovely Lady Di, and son Tyler. Walterboro (the 'Boro) has about 5,100 residents. It's a moderately interesting place. I work in the public defender's office representing poor people charged with crimes. Some of them did it. Some of them didn't do it. Some are not very nice, a lot of them are just regular Joes with a huge plate of bad luck.
I'm a moderately interesting fellow, who has the good fortune to know or be related to some very interesting people. Is there anyone out there?

I think I enjoyed myself more after I turned off the debate.

Ah, Kate, it wasn't THAT bad, was it?

So you DID watch the debate, Aman?

This is how I see it.
Sounds like you were just as impressed as Kate was, John.
Thanks so much, Dave. I have to agree with Big John. Awesome, awesome. I've watched it so many times I think I wore out my youtube.
You are so lucky. All of my neighbors are elderly and/or not cute.
