Shootin' the... Breeze.

Okay, this is not my story. Jodi, our paralegal at the Public Defender's Office told me that this happened yesterday to her husband, Ray. But it's funny. If I get some of the particulars wrong, Jodi will, I'm sure, correct me. Ray is a County Sheriff's Deputy and was on patrol yesterday with his partner. They noticed a older van driving way too slowly for the area, and got suspicious. They tailed it for awhile, when, suddenly, the van pulled over to the shoulder of the road, and the driver leapt out the the van, and tore off into the woods. Ray bolted after him. Ray's partner pulled his service weapon and approached the van. Ray's pretty fast, but this guy had a decent head start. Still, Ray was gaining on him. Ray had almost caught up with the guy, when the guy suddenly dropped his pants, squatted down, and took a crap. Pooped. Shat. Pinched out a grumpie. Evacuated his bowels. Made number two. Meanwhile, Ray's partner was talking to the passenger- an embarrassed wife- who explained that her husband had had an upset stomach all day and really, really needed to use the bathroom.Jodi didn't tell me whether the guy got a ticket.

Chase, makes me wanna invade Georgia (The State, not the Country (that'd be just silly)).

Yeah, I know, Tam. Didn't bother to explain the Jodi that, technically, they shoulda had probable cause before they chased the guy. Still funny, though (though perhaps less funny for the dude than for the officers).

Hmmm....When I really have to poop, I tend to drive faster, not slower.

Sure, John, if you know where you're going. If you're looking for a spot to poo, well, slower is better. Dude must've had to go really bad indeed. I'd have toilet paper issues (tissue issues?).

You must understand the mind set of these guys after 24/7 of playing "snatch & grab" of possible suspects in the shooting of a local officer. Everyone they tried to pick up for questioning RAN! So they were sitting on go and looks like the runner was too...they needed a good laugh. Jodi

Ray's a good guy, and it's a funny story. Also, I'll pass along that Ray's partner did NOT have his weapon drawn when he approached the van (though it looks like the driver of the van had his piece out).

Geeez! You listen like a defense attorney...it wasn't the driver w/ the thing out is was the passenger. The driver was his wife!
