...

Been a bit agitated of late. I don't know why. I usually don't. Been surly. The lads asked about Easter candy. I told them I'd shot the Easter Bunny, and not to expect much. Relax. At twelve, they were amused, not mortified. Still, I gots to get to feeling better.

Surely it would help if I didn't feel like:

I'll try to pound the pavement tomorrow. Couldn't hurt (well, maybe a little).

I know I've got to change my gustatory ways. Got to quit:
Will it help? I'll let you know.

Can you blame it on the weather? That always works for me.

Well, sure, in Colorado! It has been a bit cool (supposed to be about 35 tomorrow), but no tornadoes, snowstorms or the like. No, tomorrow I run for sure... unless I don't.

Hey, don't knock Sluggo, Ernie Bushmiller is an all-time favorite!

(Don't eat that sandwhich, it doesn't even look like food!)

It's a sandwich ?

It WAS a sandwich. Now? I feel bad. Really I do.

Sluggo. Nancy's boyfriend. Whatever happened to Ernie Bushmiller?

From Wikepedia:
Ernest Paul "Ernie" Bushmiller, Jr. (1905 - 1982) was an American cartoonist, best known for creating the long-running daily comic strip Nancy. Bushmiller's work has been repeatedly addressed by other artists: Andy Warhol made a 1961 painting based on "Nancy"; the artist and poet Joe Brainard made numerous works based on Nancy; and many cartoonists have produced work directly inspired by or commenting on Bushmiller's art, including Art Spiegelman, Bill Griffith, Mark Newgarden and Chris Ware. The American Heritage Dictionary uses a Bushmiller "Nancy" strip to illustrate its entry on "comic strip."

Ernie Bushmiller's dead? How can it be? How come nobody told me? Why? Why! Okay, I'm good.

Bushmiller apparently ate that "sandwhich" thing you were mulling ... ick.

Not fueled by Hardees! You'd be better off eating a stick of butter (I read that somewhere!)

All right, already. I'll try to eat healthier. I do own some fresh fruit and vegetables at the moment. I've actually been sending grapes and carrots with the twins' lunch (and balogna sandwiches and Star Crunches. Hey, they'd revolt if I made it totally healthy). It hasn't seemed to hurt them much. Perhaps I'll try eating some of the growing-type things. And I have begun to- slowly (oh, so slowly)- run. I'll try a 5 K in a couple of months. We'll see where it goes from there.

Yo, you cannot base your life on what your twins eat, they are young, they could eat nothing but fatback and milkshakes for the next three years and come out slim and trim ... I learned this between age 22 and 35 ... after 25, the weight just piles on.

Yep, I picture you at Ulmsted, what a triumph!

Chase and Andy- just to let you know, I've just bet a local doctor a glass of orange juice that I'll complete the Charleston 10K bridge run in April and I bet him a glass of v-8 that I'd complete the kiawah marathon in Dec. 08.

Lynne said...

Dave, good start. What are you doing to train for this April run ?

superdave524 said...

Ran a little today. I'll make a schedule today or tomorrow. As Woody Allen famously said, "85% of life is just showing up".

Do you have a babe you could bikeride with ? Mix it up & make it fun !

superdave524 said...

Not as such. I am trying to convince a friend of mine with whom I used to run to run with me, but alas, so far, no luck.

Lynne said...

Soon they will be running after you !!!
