According to a study cited in a Yahoo News article, autism correlates positively with rainy climates. Guess that shouldn't be a huge surprise: Bad weather certainly seems to breed negative introspection. There've been songs about it: Hamilton, Joe Frank and Reynolds, I think, gave us "Here Comes that Rainy Day Feeling Again" way back in the 1960's (or was it the early '70s?), and even though I'm generally a Rock and Roll dude, Karen Carpenter's "Rainy Days and Mondays" has stuck with me, lo these many years.
The Monster Smackdown is winding down. Tell you what, if y'all want a rain smackdown, send in the suggestions. If not, why I'll move along to something else.

Ok well I will have to choose Karen Carpenter. Here's why:
Once when my son was a little boy, a commercial came on the radio for the Carpenters Greatest Hits CD. He was about 3 years old. He sat on the floor in front of the TV, staring and listening to the music. Once the commercial was over he got up and said "mommy, she has the most beautiful voice in the world." So....off to the store we went to buy the CD. He was hooked on that thing for a long while. Even now when I hear one of those songs, I can't help but get a little choked up, remembering my little guy and how much he loved her voice. It was a sign even way back then that music would be a huge part of his life. Thanks for the memories Dave.
And thank you for that really warm story, Tam.
"Have You Ever Seen the Rain" by CCR
"Purple Rain" by Price (or TAFNAP)
"Its Raining Men" by ?
That would be the Weather Girls, Star.
Blame it on the Rain by Milli Vanilli
MacArthur Park (someone left the cake out in the rain) by Richard Harris (although I prefer the Donna Summer version)
and on a more serious note The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald by Gordon Lightfoot.
And then there's me.
"I'm only happy when it rains..."
Me and Shirley from Garbage.
Awesome choices, y'all.
"No rain tonight" by Dan Craig ...

... Say, what about snow?
Sounds pretty good. Sorta Shawn Mullins meets Loudin Wainwright the Third-y.
On the "no rain", how 'bout Blind Melon?
My favorite song as a child was "Rain drops keep falling on my head". Still kinda is my favorite.
Dave, sorry about the corny story. Can you tell I miss my boy? He's only 30 miles away, but it seems like 30,000.
It's a great story and I love that song.
"I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'" is one of the best lyrics ever. Those are words to live by.
BJ Thomas with the scene from Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. Classic stuff, Tam. And I wasn't kidding about the story being a good one. Shoot, we got so many great rain songs now, we should prolly have mini-smackdowns.
